In a nutshell, I was hooked on prescription drugs. I had gone into rehab to quit drinking alcohol, but had never really become sober in my mind and I eventually started abusing prescription drugs, such as, tranquilizers and amphetamines. Drugs were my idol and I spent every moment of my life consumed with serving my addictions. When I was sober, I was contemplating when and how I would get my next fix. When I got a fix, I was concerned with how long this feeling would last and what to do when it wore off. When I had drugs, I was thinking about what I would do went I ran out. When I ran out, I was consumed with how I would get more. It was a viscous, sick cycle of death. I wanted it to stop, but I was mastered by the fear that it would stop. How could I cope with life without becoming numbed by drugs? The answer was Jesus Christ. One day I heard the Gospel and said the salvation prayer. I asked Him to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I asked Him to heal me and take away the living hell of drug addiction and He did it. He healed me in my body, soul and spirit. He removed every desire to get high. He cleaned me up and made me a whole new person with a hope and a future. Now the past no longer defines my destiny. My present is determined by my future and not my past. If you or someone you know is suffering from addiction ask the Great Physician for healing. He does not show favoritism. If He did it for me, He'll do it for whosoever asks. He wants to set the captives free! He also delivered me from many demons.
